KVK Reasi celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

REASI, Oct 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated 152st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here today at Malad village in Pouni block of Reasi district of J&K which was enthusiastically attended by a number of farm women of the area. The programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Prof SK Gupta.
The major objective of the programme was to educate the people about the Gandhian Philosophy, cleanliness derive, income generation activities among the rural women. Dr Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist spoke on Gandhian Philosophy and added that Gandhiji always wanted to make sanitation a priority in the whole nation. He said that Swachhata Hi Sewa is a national sanitation flagship programme of the Government of India to clean the vicinities so that the national drive of clean India can be made successful.
He urged participants to consistently keep cleaning their premises. He also discussed the role of Self Help Groups (SHGs) for women empowerment. He appealed the participants to have their inner self clean and make Swacchata a habit in their daily routine whether it is school, home, neighbourhood, village, town etc. so that the sacred Swachhata Mission can be made successful. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi. Manohar Lal assisted the programme and Dr Suja Nabi Qureshi concluded the programme with the formal vote of thanks.
