| BJP’s women leaders counters sulking colleagues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4: BJP Mahila Morcha State Vice-President Mamta Singh, has denied the allegation leveled against the party by its two women leaders in matters of giving 33% mandate to the women in the ensuing assembly elections in the state and charging money for tickets. Addressing media persons here today she said that the party is committed for women empowerment and has been demanding provision of 33 per cent reservation in assemblies and parliament. She said the BJP has taken lead by granting 33 per cent reservation in party’s organizational set up and, if returned to power, it will bring bill in the Parliament for the purpose. She said the BJP and the Mahila Morcha have, from time to time, unanimously passed resolutions demanding reservation in Assemblies and Parliament and declared that if the Congress-led UPA table a bill in Parliament, BJP will support it. Refuting the charge that BJP demanded money for allotment of mandate as alleged by Nirmala Sharma, Mamta Singh termed these as baseless and said that those who have the potential to win are obviously preferred. It is one of the major factors for fielding candidates in the election fray. She said the allegations leveled by Nirmala Sharma on party leadership are fabricated and seems to be designed to malign the image of the party. |
