| Cross-LOC trade suspended due to election | | Poonch-Rawalakot route | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4: In view of polling in the three constituencies of Poonch district on November 17, the cross-Loc trade on Pooinch-Rawalakot route has been suspended. Official sources confirmed today that the import and export of goods could not take place after the operation had been suspended because of the impending polling. In reply to a question official sources said that since the security agencies and the civil administration in the district were engaged in ensuring incident free pre-poll campaign and polling it was found advisable to postpone today's program of importing and exporting goods. However, some of the traders were critical of the Government move on the plea that they had made arrangements for exporting truck loads of goods to occupied Kashmir. They said they should have been informed in advance so that they had not to spend money on packing goods for export. Official sources said that after November 17 the route will remain open for weekly cross-LOC trade. |
