11/4/2008 11:07:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 4: Under the Technology Mission the Government has sought financial and technical assistance from the centre for setting up Osmotic dehydration and pulp processing plant for Apricots in Nobra. The state Government has already earmarked land for the project.
Two years ago the Government set up two Apricot and vegetable drying centre, one at Turtuk and the other at Sumoor. With the establishment of these two centres, the cultivators’ produce has been saved from weather related problems. This has facilitated export of Apricot and vegetable from Ladakh to other states in the country. In order to improve facilities for the farmers the Government has also set up one sea buck thorn fruit pulping centre at Sumoor. It has been established with the assistance from the Leh Cooperative Society.
