| ST status for Paharis, reservation for Gujjars | | Bhim releases party’s manifesto | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4: Prof. Bhim Singh Chairman JKNPP today announced his party’s 15 point election manifesto for Poonch District where Assembly elections is being held on November 17 in the first phase. He said that manifesto for Bandipora and Ladakh would be released tomorrow. Releasing his party’s manifesto Bhim said that JKNPP will strive for granting ST status to the Pahari people, reserve seats for the Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddis in the exiting ST fraternity in the State Assembly according to their population in the state, ensure completion of Mughal road, rail connection to Poonch, comprehensive settlement of all refugees and migrants from Pakistan and POK by providing them relief and compensation according to the international laws without delay. The manifesto also envisages opening of other routes between Mirpur-Kotli-Poonch which existed before 1947 for the residents from both the sides with permits or passports, special package and incentive for the unemployed youth of Poonch and Rajouri Districts, granting proprietary rights to all the allottees, abolition of VAT along the areas falling along LoC and International borders, encourage heart to heart talks between the residents of both sides of the order besides connecting the twin border districts with air route . It also promises to renovate the historic palace of the former Raja of Poonch. |
