| Rashid appointed President NSUI-J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4: AICC General Secretary, in charge frontal organizations, Rahul Gandhi in his efforts to bring the intellectual class in Congress fold, appointed Rashid Choudhary a promising conservation scientist of Jammu University as President of NSUI-J&K on the recommendation of the screening committee headed by the National President of NSUI Nadeem Javed and with the approval of AICC President Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi. This is an unprecedented pronouncement to strengthen the party as generally no appointments of such nature are made near or during the elections in any State. Choudhary has been found apt for the chair of the President NSUI-J&K by Rahul Ganhdi through the special ‘Talent Hunt Program’ launched by Rahul Gandhi to attract the best youth in NSUI. Choudhary was interviewed along with 35 other candidates from Jammu and Kashmir by the ‘Talent Hunt Committee’ comprising Ashok Gehlot, Jagdish Tytler, Meenakshi Natrajan and other eminent personalities from AICC. A total of four rounds of different natures like group discussions, personal interviews etc were held to judge the best. Later on in the fourth round Coudhary along with seven other people was short listed and interviewed by the special team and finally Rahul Gandhi announced Rashid Choudhary as the New President of NSUI-J&K keeping in view his intellect, hard work and outstanding record. Rashid Choudhary hails from a far flung village Panhad, Tehsil Budhal of District Rajouri and is presently a Ph. D. Research Scholar in the Department of Botany, University of Jammu. Because of his hard work and dedication Choudhary has been decorated with number of national and international awards including The Young Scientist Award 2006 and is also the recipient of the prestigious Rothschild fellowship 2008 from Cambridge University UK. |
