| Gupta launches scathing attack on Congress, its allies | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4: Launching his offensive against the Congress and its present and erstwhile allies, the former minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has questioned the claims of their being secular and working for the development of the state. After touring Kabir Basti, Dogra Hall and others areas to take stock of the problems of the people, Prof Gupta assailed the congress and its allies pointing out that what sort of development and prosperity these ruling leaders have brought can be judged by the plight of these slum areas which are not far off even from the Civil secretariat, the seat of power. Addressing a meeting of the party activists, he said that if the Congress, NC and their fellow travelers are secular they should explain why they are having separate status and why the Indian constitution is not being applied in Jammu and Kashmir. Dubbing Congress and its fellow travelers as ‘most communal’ the BJP leader said that Article 370 was incorporated by the congress to appease Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and maintained that this special status was the root cause of many problems in this border state. He said the party activists and others to expose the real face of the congress and its allies so that the electorate punishes them at the time of polling. |
