Addressing a mammoth rally at Rajouri in support of party candidates Master Tassadiq Hussain and Choudhary Zulfikar, PDP chief sought absolute majority for her party in the coming assembly elections so that revolutionary policies being propagated by the party be implemented without any hindrance. Master Tassadiq Hussain is party candidate for Rajouri seat while as Choudhry Zulfikar is PDP candidate for Darhal assembly seat.
"Keeping in view the backwardness and underdevelopment of these areas we have a comprehensive and exclusive program for the socio economic development and political empowerment of the people of Poonch and Rajouri", she said, adding, "for the implementation these programmes PDP required absolute majority in the coming assembly elections".
In an obvious reference towards National Conference, she said that those represented Rajouri and Poonch failed to ameliorate lot of the residents of this area.
She, however, said that after formation of coalition regime Mufti Mohammad Sayed wide-ranging steps were taken for the upliftment of the remotest and neglected as removal of injustice with neglected areas is top agenda of the party.
PDP chief promised to set up region councils for Poonch and Rajouri on the pattern of Leh and Kargil hill development councils. "In order to empower various sub-regions within the State, a three tier sub-regional councils will be added to the domestic legislative structure", she promised while quoting election manifesto of the party, adding "institutional arrangements would be made to full fill aspirations of the people of Poonch, Rajouri and far-flung areas of Udhampur districts". She promised to minimize dependency of these areas on Jammu as funds meant for the development of these areas usually diverted towards other areas.
Earlier an impressive procession was taken out in the Rajouri town. Thousands of PDP workers shouting pro-peace slogans passed through the town which was flooded with the green flags of the party.
Master Tassadiq Hussain, Choudhary Zulfikar and other senior leaders of the party addressed the rally and asked the people to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayed and Mehbooba Mufti.
