Yasin Baig passes away
Loss to poetry, literary circle

JAMMU, Nov 5: Veteran littérateur and poet of Urdu and Dogri, Mirza Mohammad Yasin Baig has passed away after a prolonged illness.
The end came late last night. Baig is survived by two sons, a daughter and grandchildren. His wife had passed away earlier this year. His death has come as a shock to the cultural and literary circles.
Baig’s literary and poetic works including Dehr-e-Ashoob and Shaakh-e-Sanobar Ke Tale have been a favourite among the lovers of poetry. One of his best remembered works is Shabd Amrit, a collection of Hindi and Dogri poetry. His last book Shikast-e-Intezaar was still in the press that the end came. Family sources say the last book may have been about his feelings since he had fallen ill.
Yasin Baig had few years back retired as Special Secretary to the Government. He had served as Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Additional DC Jammu and DC excise.
Yasin Baig was taken severely ill for past four years and had been generally cut for the social and literary circles due to declining health. He was suffering multiple ailments and had stopped responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society (RJMLS) in a condolence meeting has condoled the death of Beig. The meeting of society members held under the chairmanship of Prof. Shohab Malik, described the death of Baig as a great loss to Urdu language particularly Urdu poetry in the state.
Highlighting the qualities of head and heart of Beig Prof. Shohab described his poetry the symbol of national integration and communal harmony.
Aseer Kishtwari speaking in the meeting throw highlight on various collection of Urdu poetry of Beig and said that he had protected the realities of life in his poetry. Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Ravi Thakur and Imran Tak also paid rich tributes to the departed soul. At the end of the meeting two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of the departed soul.
