| Who conspired against JCCB chairman? | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 5: Controversy has erupted over the election of Chairman for the Jammu Central Cooperative Bank Ltd as its 'outgoing 'Chairman says that the Peoples Democratic Party and National Conference conspired against him to lower his morale. Mohammad Sharief Tariq was till recently the Chairman of the Jammu Central Cooperative Bank and also a senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party. On being denied ticket by the party, Tariq jumped into fray as independent candidate from Rajouri constituency. While he was away campaigning in the constituency, the Board of Directors of the Jammu Central Cooperative Bank removed him from the post of Chairman and elected his successor. One Mohinder Singh had been elected as Chairman and Angrezu Ram as Vice Chairman of the Bank in a meeting held on November 4. Tariq has, however, said that he has been made a victim of conspiracy hatched at the behest of National Conference and the Congress to lower his morale. In a statement to Early Times, written on JCCB letter head and showing his name as Chairman, Tariq said, "the elections were completely illegal as quorum of the Board of Directors was not complete". He said at least eight Directors are required for holding election or even any policy decision but the meeting held on November 4 had only four or five members. "The majority of Board of Board members are still with me and I will prove that at an appropriate time". |
