Polling preparations completed in Leh, Nobra constituencies

EARLY TIMES REPORT
LEH, Nov 6: Leh and Nobra Assembly constituencies are all set to go for elections on 17th November. Preliminary preparations have already been completed and the remaining necessary arrangements for smooth, free, fair and transparent elections are presently going on at war footing under the supervision of Election Observers and district election officer.
Nine candidates in Leh and equal number of candidates have filed their nomination papers in Nobra. With the withdrawal of candidates by 4 supporting candidates in Leh a total of 5 candidates remained in the contest. These contesting candidates are Phonchok Tundup of BSP, Tashi Gyalson of PDP, Mohammad Ramzan of National Panther’s Party, Nawang Rigzin of Congress and Thupstan Chhewang as Independent.
With the withdrawal of candidatures by 5 candidates in Nobra four candidates are left in election fray. These are Ahmed Shah, Independent, Urgain Chostak, Independent, Tstean Namgial, Independent and Tsewang Rigzin of Congress.
In Leh Assembly Constituency as many as 58, 943 voters would exercise their franchise include 29859 male voters and 29084 female voters. For smooth conduct of elections in all over Leh constituency, 183 polling stations have been set up.
Nobra Assembly Constituency has total 11,467 voters. Of these 5800 are male voters are 5667 are female. In Nobra Assembly segment, 56 polling stations have been opened.
Polling station No: 181 - Anlay-Fu is the highest located polling station in Leh segment at 5000 mtrs above the sea level and polling station No. 171 – Thukjay Gonpa is the smallest polling station having only 5 voters.
In Nobra Assembly segment, Fastan is the highest polling station situated at a height of 17000 ft. and Sunudo and Sasoma Polling stations are the smallest station which have only 14 voters each. Chushot Gongma Polling station in Leh is the largest having 1311 voters while as Turtuk Polling station having 999 voter is the large polling station in Norba Assembly Constituency.
