| Army sets up Science Lab at GHHS Kalsian | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 6: Under the ongoing Army campaign for ‘Winning Hearts and Minds’ of the local populace, another milestone was achieved by establishment of a Science Laboratory in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kalsian, today. The event was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding, Dah Division and President Army Wives Welfare Association, Dah Division in presence of number of Army and Civil dignitaries in Nowshera Tehsil.
The villages along the Line of Control in Nowshera Tehsil of border Rajouri district are educationally backward as there are very few high schools in the area. Moreover, the existing schools do not have the required infrastructure to impart quality education. Science education imparted in the school suffered in quality due to absence of a science laboratory. Thus the establishment of a fully equipped laboratory will fill up a significant void in imparting education being to high school students now.
The School located 4 Kms from Line of Control was established in 1955 and upgraded to High School in 1987 and to Plus (10+2) level in the year 2005. It is the only school in the entire region which conducts Science classes for 11th and 12th standards.
Speaking on the occasion Kulwant Kaur, Principal of the school expressed her gratitude to the Dah Division for extending this much needed facility to the school. |
