Devotees throng Hazratbal on Friday following the Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi (SAW) Urs in Kashmir.

Srinagar, Oct 22: Hundreds of devotees visit Hazratbal to participate in the congregational prayers on the occasion of Friday following the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in Srinagar.
Official sources said, the people from all walks of life including men, women and children were seen moving on different kinds of transport and on foot towards the Aasar-e-Shrief Hazratbal in down town Srinagar to attend the congregational Friday prayers.
The Friday sermon was delivered by the head priest of the Shrine Kamal-u-Deen Farooqi who led the congregational prayers also at 2.30 pm from the Glass Bagh or “Cherry Bagh ‘’ concluded peacefully.
The Moi-e-Muqqadas (The holy relic) of the Prophet Muhammad was displayed by a priest (Imam) before the devotees after the Friday prayers from the Shrine complex.
Special prayers were held for the peace, prosperity, progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, a large number of people gathered at Hazratbal shrine participated in “Shab Khawani” night long prayers on Thursday.
The markets were abuzz around the shrine complex and people were seen purchasing items of their choice from the road side vendors.
The authorities had made adequate arrangements of transport, electricity, water and cleanliness around the shrine complex, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a 15 day medical camp by Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar was put in service for the devotees visiting the holy shrine during the Eid-e-Milad Urs at Hazratbal.
An official spokesman said, on auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad, a medical first aid camp was organised by the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College Srinagar through Block Medical Officer Hazratbal from August 8 to 22 at Hazratbal shrine.
He said, hundreds of people visiting the shrine were benefited with free consultation and medicines.
COVID testing and Vaccination booths were also established where visitors benefited from getting tested for COVID-19 infection as well as Vaccination against the virus infection.
A free blood sugar testing facility was put available for the devotees on Friday, the spokesman added.
