| JM staffer assaulted | | |
Jammu, Sep 13 : An employee of Jammu Municipality was assaulted by some unidentified persons at Mahespora locality under the jurisdiction of police station Bakshi Nagar, here this afternoon.
Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a team of Jammu Municipality had gone to the locality for their ongoing anti-encroachment drive. When the team started removing some encroachments in the area a large number of people started agitating and asked the Municipal employees to halt the drive.
It was learnt that one of the agitating person hit a JM employee, Tarseem Lal Gupta, causing critical injuries on his head. As no police squad was accompanying the JM team, the assailant managed to escape from the spot.
Sources said that the injured JM employee was immediately rushed to Government Medical College Hospital, where his condition is stated to be out of danger. An FIR has been registered in Bakshi Nagar Police Station, sources added.
