| NC pulls first gear, list of 65 out | | Farooq jumps fray from Ganderbal, all old faces repeated | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 5: The National Conference is in full gear and no chances are being taken on projecting its seriousness on beating all parties at the hustings. After the party president Omar Abdullah rushed back to try luck at Ganderbal, father and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah will contest from Hazratbal constituency in Srinagar City as National Conference today announced tickets for 65 assembly constituencies going to polls in third to seven phase of elections. Candidates for first and second phase had already been declared by the party and now the announcement is pending for only four constituencies where party has very little base. The mega list was declared by National Conference General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed who is back in reckoning after almost six years. Nazir has not been seen around in party affairs since 2002 when he was left almost jobless in the organization just ahead of elections. National Conference is so far only major political party to have declared list of more than 80 candidates out of total 87 seats going to polls in seven phases beginning November 17. Party sources said that announcing list was the only last backroom strategic work and now onwards the party leaders will fan out to field for campaigning. The list of candidates for the third phase includes Kafeel-ur- Rehman for Karnah; Mir Saifullah for Kupwara; Qaisar Jamsheed Lone for Lolab; Ch. Mohammad Ramzan for Hamdwara and Sharief-ud-Din Shariq for Langate. For the fourth phase, National Conference candidates includes Mohammad Shafi Uri for Uri; Javaid Ahmad Dar for Rafiabad; Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganai for Sopore; Dr. Ghulam Qadir Bhat for Sangrama; Dr. S M Kamaal for Gulmarg; A R Shaheen for Pattan; Aga Syed Rohaullah for Budgam; Prof. A M Matoo for Beerwah; Tariq Mohi-ud- Din for Khansahib; Abdul Rahim Rather for Chrari Sharief; Ali Mohammad Dar for Chadoora; Abdul Gani Malik for Gulab Garh; Babu Jag Jeevan Lal for Reasi; Gh Qadir Mughal for Gool Arnas and Sunil Verma for Udhampur. Candidates for the fifth phase includes Mohammad Ashraf Bhat for Tral; Ghulam Nabi Mir for Pampore; Gh. Nabi Ratanpuri for Pulwama; Ghulam Nabi Wani (Niloora) for Rajpora; Showkat Hussain Ganai for Wachi; Shabir ahmad Kullay for Shopian; Ghulam Hyder Malik for Bani; Devinder Singh Bindu for Basohli; Ravinder Singh Salathia for Kathua and Romy Khajuria for Bilawar. For the sixth phase, the list of candidates includes Miss Sakina Itoo for Noorabad; Safdar Ali Khan for Kulgam; Abdul Majeed Bhat for Home Shalibug; Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah for Devsar; Dr. Mehboob Beg for Anantnag; Mohammad Akbar Ganai for Dooru Shahabad; Gh Nabi Bhat (Adgami) for Kokernag; Mohammad Syed Khan (Advocate) for Shangus; Dr Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri) for Bijbehara; Altaf Ahmad Kalu for Pahalgam; Sajad Ahmad Kichloo for Kishtwar; Abdul Karim Wani for Inderwal; Khalid Najeed Suharwardi for Doda; Mohammad Aslam Goni (Advocate) for Bhaderwah and Dr. Chaman Lal for Ramban.
