| Lakhanpur check post records 83% increase in revenue | | | Early Times Report Jammu | Nov 7 The Sales Tax Department has realized revenue of over Rs.1790 lakhs on account of entry tax, security, penalty and passenger tax during the last month against Rs.978 lakhs during the corresponding period last year registering an increase of 83 per cent. The taxable imports to the state touched a high of Rs.1589.64 crores during October last against Rs. 1791.31 crore during the same period last year. The taxable imports for Jammu region accounted for RS.1286.37 crores during October while as imports for Kashmir valley had been of the order of RS. 303. 26 crores. The export during this period registered decrease of 15 percent. The export during the month had been of the order of Rs. 1038 crores against Rs.1222 crores during the same period last year. Similarly the imports by the industries sector too have registered a decrease of 15 per cent. The Commercial Sales Tax Check Post during the course of routine checking detected 2149 VAT violation cases, of these 730 cases were disposed off during the month.
