JAMMU, Nov 2: Congress leader Bharat Priye visited Nikobal village of Chhamb assembly constituency and listened to the problems of the farmers. Priye said that due to heavy rains and hailstorm in the Jammu region in the past, 100 percent crops of the farmers were destroyed. He submitted a memorandum to the revenue officials demanding compensation to the farmers. He was very surprised to know that farmers were being given Rs.675 per kanal as compensation. At this time when fertilizers, petrol, pesticides have become so expensive, in the eyes of the government the cost of one kanal crop is only Rs 675. He said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should understand the problems of the farmers of Jammu and release full compensation for the crop. If the government fails to do so, they will call for an agitation along with the border people. |
