GAH Jammu celebrates Dhanvantri Jayanti, National Ayurveda Day

JAMMU, Nov 2: Directorate of Ayush J&K celebrated Dhanvantri Jayanti and 6th National Ayurveda Day with great fervor at Govt Ayurvedic Hospital (GAH) Indira Chowk Jammu.
Every year Dhanvantri Jayanti is celebrated all across the nation on the auspicious day of Dhanteras. Notably, Dhanvantri Jayanti is celebrated as National Ayurveda Day to promote and propagate health practices and principles enshrined in Ayurveda and celebrate the spirit of Ayurveda. On this occasion, an impressive program was organized in the premises of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu. At the outset, a "Dhanvantri Yajna" was organized at Dhanvantri Kunj in which chief guest of the function Director Ayush J&K, Dr Mohan Singh offered Purnahuti to Lord Dhanvantri.
On the backdrop of Dhanvantri Jayanti, an in house herbal-cum-nutritional garden Arogya Vatika, which will serve the purpose of demonstration, inaugurated by Director Ayush J&K in the premises of Directorate of Ayush at Indira Chowk.
In his inaugural address, Director Ayush J&K emphasize the theme of current year for National Ayurveda Day i.e. Ayurveda for Poshan and emphasize the need for collaboration, convergence and research on the Nutritional principles and practices of optimal nutritional enshrined in Ayurveda. He also emphasized that J&K has a rich heritage of nutritional biodiversity in the form of millets, pseudo-cereals, green leafy vegetables and nutritional herbs.
Director Ayush also appreciated the role played by Directorate of School Education Jammu in successful celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga. It is to be noted that Director School Education Jammu, Dr Ravi Shanker also participated in the celebrations and shared that Directorate of School Education is committed to collaborate with Ayush for promotion of health and fitness.
The felicitation programme for the winners of various competitions like slogan, essay, Jingle, poster, quiz and yoga asanas/ pranayam was also conducted in which winners were given awards of appreciation by the Director Ayush J&K and Director School Education Jammu. The function was concluded by presentation of Vote of thanks by Dr Vandana Dogra, Medical Superintendent Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu.
