District Jammu won the boys under-19 year basketball title beating district Kathua in the Inter-District Divisional level competitions organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at different venues, here today. Only two teams turned up in basketball competition thereby making it mere a formality for the department. Jammu boys won the final by a big margin 62-20. Surprisingly, only Jammu district team reported in girls section resulting into organizers left with no other option to declare the district winner at the venue--Mini Stadium, Parade, here. Meanwhile, in under-19 boys inter-district hockey competitions, there were three teams in the fray for top honours. In the preliminary round matches, played today at K K Hakhu Stadium, here, Jammu blanked Poonch 3-0 ( Jaspreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Gurjeet score one goal each) while Kathua also defeated Poonch with a big margin 5-1. Abhinandan scored two goals, while Rahul, Rohit and Gourav contributed one each. From Poonch, Harpreet reduced the margin sounding the board in the second half. The final shall be played tomorrow between Jammu and Kathua. Among those present were Chanchal Kour, Sunita Goel, R C Vaid, Jeet Singh, Usha Jamwal and Sarita Padha.
