DBPS pays rich tributes to Maj Som Nath, remembers his supreme sacrifice

JAMMU, Nov 3: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today paid rich tributes to war hero Shaheed Major Som Nath Sharma who laid down his life while defending the Srinagar Airport from the attack of tribals in collaboration with Pak Army on November 3, 1947.
President of DBPS Ved Parkash Sharma, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Tawi Andolan President Chander Mohan Sharma, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arun Gupta, former bureaucrats KB Jandail, Soujanya Sharma, SK Sharma, Som Nath Sharma, Subash Sharma and others including JMC Councillors Sanjay Baru, Baldev Singh Baloria, Pawan Singh, Surinder Sharma, Anita Sharma, Sukhdev Singh at a function held at Mayor Som Nath Chowk near 4th Bridge where speakers remembered sacrifices of this great soldier.
While speaking on the occasion, speakers said remembering martyrs like Major Som Nath Sharma is itself a matter of pride for the nation. They said after martyrdom of Major Sharma almost his entire family joined Indian army there by setting an example that the sacrifices of one member from family cannot demoralize others.
While paying rich tribute to Major Som Nath, Tawi Andolan President, Chander Mohan Sharma said that present situation in the state demands that the people should take inspiration from the supreme sacrifices of the brave soldiers and stand by Army and para-military forces to give a befitting replay to Pakistan for its acts of ceasefire violation and firing on border. Sharma also demanded naming either airport of the state on Major Somnath Sharma.
Describing Major Sharma as the great hero of India President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Parshotam Didichi, Narayan Singh Jamwal Senior BJP leader and Advocate PC Sharma said that real tributes to Major Som Nath Sharma will take pledge to keep ourselves always prepared to face challenges which pose threat to the unity and integrity of the motherland.
Sabha Vice President Virendar Mohan Magotra, prominent social activist BS Jamwal ex-DC, Satyanand Sharma Chairman, Subash Shastri, NC Sharma, ML Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, Nanak Chand Sharma, Madan Lal Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Pt Barita Ram Sharma, ML Padha, Gurdas Sharma, Jia Lal Sharma, SS Baru, KL Sharma, Prem Balotra, Som Nath, Girdhari Lal Sharma, Devinder Sharma (Babu), Rajesh Bargotra, Satpal Sharma and Raman Sharma also highlighted the great role of Shaheed Major Som Nath in protecting Srinagar Airport from the attack of Kabailis and Pakistan Army.
