Tawi Trekkers is going to fulfill its promise of Rs one lakh award to Ram Singh for scaling Mount Everest in a special function to be held on November nine at Amar Singh Club, here. The promise was made Financial Commissioner (Revenue), Anil Goswami in the capacity of chairman, Tawi Trekkers. This was decided in a meeting of Tawi Trekkers held under the presidentship of Sumant Singh Jamwal at Sprawling Buds School, Laxmi Puram, Chinore, near here today. Ram Singh is one of the two mountaineers, who successfully climbed the highest peak on the earth thus bringing laurels to the state and the Club. Ram Singh achieved the milestone under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Police. “As also, Tawi Trekkers has decided to felicitate ace climber, Harjot Kour for representing the country in the 7th Asian Youth Climbing Championship held at Yamaguchi in Japan in the same function. Mountaineer, Sajad Haider and national champion in sport climbing, Shivani Raj Kaith are among others who shall be honoured by the Club,” general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria told SAN. The Club has decided to invite its chairman, Anil Goswami as chief guest in the felicitation function on November nine. Meanwhile, the state sport climbing team which is leaving for Delhi on November 11 to take part in the National Sport Climbing Championship shall also be accorded a formal flag off by the Club in the same function, informed Mr Khajuria.
