| VOJ presents challan against BDO, Ors | | | Jammu, Nov 08- Vigilance Organization today presented challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu, against Tirloki Nath then BDO Lohai, Malhar, Mani Ram then plantation watcher and Ranjna Gupta, then Cashier Cooperative Marketing Society Mandli Billawar, for misappropriating Government money to the tune of Rs 50,000. The Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat directed the accused persons to furnish bail bond and personal bond to the tune of Rs 25000 each failing which they be sent to judicial lock-up. The accused persons who were present in the Court have furnished their bail bond and personnel bond as per the direction of the Court. The Vigilance Organization Jammu had received a communication from the Special Secretary to Government Rural Development Department, wherein it was alleged that spurious cement had been procured by the BDO Lohai Malhar from Manager Cooperative Marketing Society Mandli Billawar for use in various works executed in the hilly areas of Block Lohai Malhar District Kathua in the year 2002. A case was registered and enquiry was conducted. The allegations were also got enquired by District Development Commissioner Kathua and Executive Engineer REW Kathua. The enquiry revealed that BDO Lohai Malhar had procured the supply of ACE Cement through Cooperative Marketing Society Mandli Billawar and released the payment in respect of ACC brand of cement the cost of which was much higher and in this manner the public exchequer was put to loss by the accused BDO and others. It was further alleged that the accused persons by abuse of their official position hatched a criminal conspiracy and misappropriated an amount of Rs 50,000 by drawing the payment from public exchequer. After completion of the investigation, VOJ today presented challan with the prayer for judicial determination.
