Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 10: "If you exercise your fundamental right to protest, FIR is lodged against you and if you differ with the policies and programmes of ruling dispensation, you are dubbed as anti-national. Are you living in the greatest democratic country of the world?"
This was stated by Om Parkash Khajuria, Convener, Aam Aadmi Party, Jammu Province in a press conference held here in its Party Office Ganghi Nagar, Jammu. He was referring to an episode of Tehsil Chilli-Pingal of District Doda, where an FIR has been registered against the lone AAP-DDC Member, DDC Constituency Kahara-Jakyas of District Doda, when he visited the Tehsil office of Tehsildar Chilli-Pingal, along with hundreds of villagers to vent out some problems of people of his constituency, to his surprise he found the entire Tehsil office locked at about 11.30 AM and only a Class IV employee was found to open and close the office at his whims, the release said. Flanked by Wing Commander (Retd) Mahesh Chander Sudan, Coordinator, AAP-Jammu Province, Ram Singh Chauhan and Kuldeep Kumar Rao I/C Party media men, the Convener elaborated that when the Tehsildar arrived amid infuriated public, he not only misbehaved with the DDC Member, Mehraj Malik, but threatened also of dire consequences and immediately got a FIR registered in the Police Station Gandoh on the plea of obstructing a government employee from doing government work, the release said.
Instead of mending his ways in the conduct of public service, a Tehsildar blatantly frowns and growns at a public representative, simply & safely tantamount as if he is un-aware of his duties as a government servant or he has got some political patronage the release claimed. The AAP leader demanded impartial inquiry into the matter at the hands of a Divisional level officer immediately and transfer of the delinquent official so that fair inquiry is not hampered.
The release further appeals the Lt. Governor to look deep into as it is not a normal matter for a thorough inquiry but it is a matter of direct reflection of commitment of present dispensation with regard to Panchayati Raj Institutions. The release further said that AAP feels the stand taken by DDC member is based on principles in bringing corruption free, transparent & accountable government working. In case the issue is put under the carpet AAP will be forced to come on roads, the responsibility of the consequences shall squarely lie on the administration, the release cautioned.
