| GDC Basohli organizes lecture on World Science Day | | | Early Times Report
BASOHLI, Nov 10: Government Degree College (GDC) Basohli organized an online lecture on World Science Day for Peace and Development under the aegis of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav". The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Nidhi Kotwal, Principal, GDC Basohli.
The event commenced with a welcome address and brief introduction by Prof Suresh Kumar, HOD Physics, GDC Basohli. Prof Joginder Singh, HoD Physics, GDC Nowshera was the resource person and delivered a lecture on the topic "World Science day for Peace and Development". He highlighted the importance of science in our society and the need to engage wider public on emerging scientific issues by linking science more closely with society. He also highlighted that COVID-19 pandemic has brought to our attention that building up scientific temperament and propagation of scientific culture are critically important in tackling a pandemic of this scale. The knowledge so acquired can help us understand the very basics of the disease process, helping us make progress in treating and preventing it. The lecture was attended by 32 students and all the faculty members of the college. The event ended with a formal vote of thanks by Anshika Rajput, student of GDC Basohli. |
