JAMMU, Nov 10: Athlete Mangat Singh, who brought laurels to Akhnoor in competitions organized in various states of the country, was welcomed by Congress leader Bharat Priye and other members in the presence of Navdurga Mandir Committee at Pargwal-Chhamb.
Priye said that Mangat, who hails from a very poor family, has brought laurels not only to Akhnoor but to the entire Jammu & Kashmir by achieving success in various competitions. The government should come forward to nurture talent like Mangat, but due to poor financial condition, he is not able to move forward, said Priye.
"This talented sportsperson has proved that the children of border farmers can bring laurels to their locality nationally and internationally. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should intervene and ensure that Mangat is given financial assistance and steps should be taken to promote his talent," said Priye. |
