| Indian observers to monitor polls in J&K | | | Agencies
Srinagar: Election Commission of India has appointed 60 more observers including 15 top bureaucrats from Andhra Pradesh and Bihar for ensuing seven-phased election in Jammu and Kashmir, beginning November 17.
While as the observers for the Bandipore constituencies (Kashmir division), Leh and Nobra (Kargil) have already reached the respective destinations, the fresh observers are scheduled to reached according the phased manner in line with the poll calendar, reports reaching Press Bureau of India said.
According to PBI, for Sangrama and Baramulla constituencies, scheduled to go for ballots in fourth phase, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka has been bestowed the job to oversee the polls.
According to the list, another AP bureaucrat, Sayed Omar Jaleel will be Observer for Karnah Assembly constituency, falling in third phase of poll calendar.
Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi for Nowshera Assembly segment (2nd phase of elections), Anjani Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of Bihar, for Hazratbal and Zadibal Assembly segments (7th Phase), Vidya Sagar from Andhra Pradesh for Pahalgam Assembly segment (sixth phase), Jitendra Srivastava and Vinay Kumar (both from Bihar) will be oversee polls at Kishtwar and Homeshailbugh and Devsar Assembly segments scheduled in 6th phase of elections.
Sudhir Kumar, another bureaucrat from Bihar has been appointed Observer for Lolab and Kupwara constituencies.
Chattisgarh Chief Secretary Mansha Ram Thakur has been appointed for Banihal Assembly segment (6th Phase) while Chief Secretary of Gujarat, Anand Mohan Tiwari will oversee polls at Handwara and Langate Assembly constituencies scheduled in third phase of polls.
S J Hayder, another bureaucrat from Gujarat will observer polls Uri Assembly segment (fourth phase) while Chief Secretary of Haryana, Rajinder Paul Gupta has been appointed as observer for Pulwama and Rajpora Assembly constituencies (5th phase).
Masood Hasan of Bihar has been deployed as Observer for Tral and Pampore (5th phase).
Tom Jos, Chief Secretary of Kerala will be Observer for fourth phase constituencies of Gulmarg and Pattan while Chief Secretary of Karnataka, Rajneesh Goel to be Observer for Anantnag and Kokernag segments.
Dr Chandragupta Ashok Vardhan for Kalakote, Mayank Warwade for Basohli and Billawar Assembly segments, Pran Mohan Thakur (Bihar ) for Budgam and Khansahib Assembly segments, Upendra Kumar Roy and Muhammad Sharif Alam for Gulabgarh and Beerwah constituencies (fourth phase).
M S Sehrawat, a bureaucrat from Haryana will be observer for Gool-Arnas Assembly segments falling under fourth phase.
The Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Dr Pradeep Kumar Vyas for Dooru and Shangus Assembly segments (6th Phase), while three more Maharashtrians , Sunil Porwal, A K Zade and Asheesh Sharma have been appointed Observers for Bijbehara, Inderwal and Poonch Haveli Assembly segments. Shyamlal Goyal has been appointed as Observer for Chadoora and Chrari-e- Sharief segments falling in 4th Phase.
Ujjval Uke for Amirakadal and Sonawar constituencies (7th phase), Shreekant Singh for Mendar Assembly segment, Dr Kshatrapati Shivai for Jammu East and Jammu West Assembly segments (7th phase), Rajiv Onkarnath Jalota for Udhampur, Chenani Assembly segments (fourth phase) while Nitin Ramchandra Gadre has been chosen Observer for Akhnoor and Chhamb segments going for ballots in 7th Phase.
Surendra Kumar Bagade for Bhaderwah, Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, Vinod Kumar for R S Pura and Suchetgarh Assembly segments, Ashok Kumar Shah for Ramnagar, Pradeep Kumar Khare for Kathua and Hiranagar Assembly segments, Dr Ravindra Kumar Pasotra for Nagrota segment while Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty to be Observer for Rafiabad and Sopore constituencies. Rajneesh Vaish has been appointed Observer for Shopian and Chief Secretary of Orissa, Ashok Kumar Kaluram Meena will be Observer for Leh segment.
Sources told PBI that Observers have been briefed by the election commission of India about the role to be played by them during elections including monitoring of nomination papers, scrutiny, withdrawal, polling and counting process.
The respective observers are scheduled to meet the various members of the political parties in due course of time.
