Uncertainty Prevails
11/12/2021 11:21:36 PM

Sandeep Mawa son of a Kashmiri Pandit businessman, Roshan Lal Mawa, returned to Kashmir in 2019 and opened up his father’s shop in Srinagar’s old city. His father along with his family had fled the Valley in 1990 when KPs were forced to leave Kashmir after ultras carried out selective killings of the members of KP community.
Earlier this week militants had come to kill Mawa, but they killed his salesman, Iftikhar Khan.
Their aim was to kill someone and they succeeded in it. They had come to kill a Kashmiri Pandit but murdered Khan, who was a loyal salesman of Mawa.
Khan’s killing left Mawa shell shocked, had the police not informed him in advance, he would have lost his life. Killing of a young Kashmiri Muslim salesman has once again brought to fore the fact that terror has no religion. The gun toting ultras only know one thing i.e. to kill innocents.
Pakistan that is under the control of feudal minded upper caste Punjabi Muslims have turned Kashmir valley into a reflection of Pakistan itself. Who would have thought that Kashmir would see a day, when Pakistan backed militants would be looking to kill a Kashmiri only because of his faith?
Last month militants went on a killing spree in Kashmir and killed eleven civilians, mostly members of the minority community, including non-local labourers.
The agenda was clear that the militants wanted members of the minority community to leave Kashmir and they wanted to recreate 1990.
The target killings led to non-local labourers fleeing the Valley and the KPs who had returned to Kashmir to take up the jobs under Prime Minister’s job package rushed back to Jammu.
In the last one month the situation has improved but still that uncertainty is there and threat perception prevails. In the past one week a policeman and a salesman were shot dead by the ultras in Srinagar. The fear-psychosis is prevalent and it appears that people are unable to believe that militants are again calling the shots and are out to destroy the Valley once again.
The Centre has taken a serious note of the target killings and has sent additional security forces to Kashmir. The security grid is being strengthened to end the terrorism from the Valley once for all.
