| BSP for reservation as per population proportion | | | Jammu, July 10 : Hailing the decision of the state government for creation of eight new districts, Bahujan Samaj Party said that the government has shown boldness and done justice to all the three regions of the state.
Addressing a press conference, here today, President BSP Yashpal Bhagat said that his party welcomes the government decision and the sincere efforts of the chief minister in this regard.
However, at the same time Bhagat also criticised the government for neglecting the Pakistan refugees who are facing severe problems in the state. "It is very much astonishing that govt. of J&K is fulfilling its commitment kept in common minimum programme of its coalition partners and is trying to win over the people of J&K state but at the same time this govt is paying no attention to the long pending demand of citizenship Rights of West Pakistani Refugees of 1947 and violating the international law", he added.
The SCs/STs/OBCs, he added further, have been deprived off the full, actual and due Rights of reservation because of SRO294/ Reservation Act 2004 for which BSP has submitted a Memorandum to the Governor
BSP demanded reservations according to population proportion at State/Division and District level for SCs in recruitment, promotions and higher education in Govt and private sector.
Implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations, exclusion of RBA and ALC from OBC were some of the other demands highlighted on the occasion.
"Unless and until the government does not pay due attention to those genuine issues being faced by the people of the state, the dream of peace, progress and prosperity will not be fulfilled", he added further. |
