JSS to resist division of Jammu region
11/10/2008 11:56:38 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 9: Announcing its decision not to contest the assembly elections in the state, the Jammu Sangarsh Samiti (JSS) today said that it would strive to evolve consensus among all the organizations and groups advocating separate state of Jammu.
In a resolution adopted after the day long conference of its workers held under the chairmanship of its President, Amarnath Gupta, the JSS said that it would strive to bring its fold all the workers and activists who were in the Jammu State Morcha which since stands dissolved. It will also strive through various means to popularize and strengthen the movement for separate state of Jammu on secular lines by spreading its network in all the sub regions of Jammu and evincing the support of all the communities and sections of the people for carving out a separate state.
The resolution further said that the Samiti strongly opposes and will resist tooth and nail any move from any quarter to divide Jammu region on communal lines and foil the nefarious designs of Kashmiri secessionists and religious fundamentalists to dismember some parts of Jammu from the region to fulfill their game plan of creating great Kashmir.
JSS is of the firm belief that the only solution to remove mutual distress, bickering and rivalry among the three regions can be achieved with the creation of three separate states, the resolution said and added that the Jammuties who have been made to play the second fiddle to Kashmir politicians continue to suffer under the hegemony of Kashmiri politicians for the last 61 years.
