'People can't afford another Congress regime'
Mehbooba says, Azad washed away what Mufti did

Rajouri, Nov 9: Charging former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad of putting the state on fire with his 'blind' decisions, the Peoples Democratic Party leader Mehbooba Mufti today said that the Congress regime post-2005 washed away the gains of consolidated public sentiments for peace and development.

"People of Jammu and Kashmir have paid a heavy price for unwise decisions of Ghulam Nabi Azad regime and they cannot afford such a government any more", said Mehbooba while addressing a serious of public meetings in favour of party candidate Choudhary Zulfikar Ali in Darhal constituency today.

Mehbooba regretted that instead of pursuing the pro-peace policy of his predecessor, Ghulam Nabi Azad as chief minister of the State had tried to solve this problem by adopting oppressive measures of fire fighting nature without caring aspirations of the people of this State. She asked the people to elect a leader who will respect their aspirations and serve them with dedication.

"It is all due to the wrong policies of Congress led regime that situation returned to square one and residents of both Jammu and Kashmir have to bear the brunt of the unwise decisions taken after change of guard in November 2005", she lamented and reminded the people that during his three year tenure Mufti Mohammad Sayed has resorted normalcy to a large extent by respecting public sentiments and by taking concrete political measures with sincerity. She, however, regretted that Ghulam Nabi Azad, in his tenure, spoiled all efforts of his predecessor by taking irresponsible decisions which put the whole state on fire.

She said that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a crucial juncture and there is a dire need to implement a constructive, comprehensive and productive policy for sustainable peace in this region. "Only a leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayed can lead the state to the path of peace and development as he has wisdom and visualization of whole situation", she said and asked the people to compare Mufti Mohammad Sayed with other leaders of the state while casting their votes in the assembly elections.

Reiterating her party's commitment to remove disparity with remote and backward areas, Ms Mufti said many comprehensive were taken by the Mufti Mohammad Sayed led coalition regime for the betterment and development of the neglected areas. She said that for the socio-economic growth of the people special attention was paid to the remote areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts. He reminded the people about various developmental projects started in these areas during his tenure as Chief Minister.

Responding to demands of local people she promised to solve all problems if voted to power and assured the people that PDP would fulfill wishes and aspirations of the people of this region. PDP candidate from Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar and other local leaders addressed the rallies.
