VIJAYPUR, Nov 18: As a sequel to the ongoing celebrations of National Library Week, GDC Vijaypur organized a book fair from 16th to 18th of November in the Library of the College in which books from various fields like Science, Technology, Literature, Biography and so on of National and International level were displayed in the Fair which attracted a no. of students and faculty members. The fair was inaugurated by Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal GDC Vijaypur by quoting the lines “When you open a book, you open a new world”. She exhorted that books are packed with knowledge, insights into a happy life, life lessons, love, fear, prayer and helpful advice. She also advised the students to make use of this opportunity and make books their best friends as they enhance their skills of reading and inculcate good traits as books have been here for centuries and without them, today’s knowledge of our past ancestors, cultures and civilizations would have been impossible. In her address, Disha Arti (Librarian) said that knowing more books can help us to decide on which books would provoke and ignite our knowledge as books have become inevitable to mankind and such type of programmes give students a motivation to read by offering them a wide selection of books to choose from. She further said that the popularity of book fairs is increasing day by day with the advancement of civilization and creates interest amongst common masses to read, imbibe and explore books of their taste and choice. The whole event was organized by Dr Sunil Kumar Mangoch and coordinated by Prof Anil Bhagat.
