| JKNPP constitutes election campaign committee | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9- Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman of JKNPP while announcing formation of an election campaign committee said that the members of the committee shall not be contesting the elections. The committee headed by Prof Bhim Singh will have Ghulam Mohammed Shan, Advocate, S. Daljit Singh, Shanti Swaroop Basotra, PK Ganjoo as its members. Addressing media persons here today Prof Singh said that the members of the committee shall not be contesting ensuing election.
Prof. Bhim Singh also offered Panthers Party mandate to former PCC President, Ghulam Rasool Kar, and a die hard nationalist and former MLC and youth leader, Bilal Lodhi to contest in Kashmir Valley as their presence in the Assembly shall send a great message to the youth of Kashmir Valley.
Prof. Singh accused the Election Commission of India for staying the transfer orders of the pro-Ghulam Nabi Azad, Deputy Commissioners of Poonch, Reasi and Kishtwar who were transferred by the Governor on October, 19, before the notification of holding elections in the state was issued. He said that the Election Commission was influenced by Ghulam Nabi and the Congress leaders to take this step. He said that District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner) of Poonch has imposed curfew in all the Municipal Towns of Poonch banning political election rallies of the Panthers Party only to please the Congress-NC combine. He said that the Panthers Party activists were assaulted by the police in Surankote (Poonch District) day before yesterday and prohibited from addressing a public meeting. The Panthers Party is contesting all the three seats in Poonch District. It is for the first time in the history of Poonch District that a lady Tabassum Choudhary, a post-graduate from Jammu University, is contesting Assembly election. The other candidates are Tariq Hamid Khan in Mendhar and Jameel Shah from Surankote.
Prof. Singh also accused the State administration for deliberately discriminating with the Panthers Party candidates by denying them security cover which has been provided to other candidates even those who are contesting as Independent candidates. He said a son of PDP minister contesting from Sonawari (Bandipora District) has been provided four security vehicles and 'Z' security cover, whereas the candidate of the Panthers Party Ashraf Abbas Shah has not been provided any security vehicle or accommodation though he is a winning candidate in the election.
