| Ajatshatru kicks off poll campaign | | | Early Times Report
Nagrota November 9, 2008:- National Conference candidate from Nagrota Assembly Constituency and Former Minister M.K. Ajatshatru Singh launched his election campaign here today in presence of MLC Devender Singh Rana by meeting thousands of party workers, delegates, Sarpanches, Panches and other prominent persons.
Smt. Bimla Luthra, Provincial President Women Wing and Ex-MLC Haji Mohammad Hussain were also present in the meeting.
While speaking on the occasion the delegates and other prominent persons lauded the efforts made by M. K. Ajatshatru Singh during his earlier tenure of MLA and Ministership for the development of the different areas of the constituency.
While addressing to the party workers and other prominent persons present on the occasion, former Minister M. K. Ajatshatru Singh said that the six years of the coalition rule brought only miseries to the people of the state which is unfortunate. He accused the successive government and the former representative elected for the constituency for ignoring the general plight of the masses of the constituency. He questioned the hollow slogans given on the name of development of the constituency by the previously elected representative of the constituency.
He said it is not understandable as to why the people of the whole constituency are badly suffering with the problems of potable drinking water, roads and electricity and why the projects started during his earlier tenure had not been taken up. He asked the party workers to reach the masses and ask them that when the so called leaders and representatives of the parties come to seek their vote, they should be questioned that what development work they have done for the development and upliftment of the general public of the constituency during the previous six years and what happened to the previous promises made by them regarding the development of the area.
Sh. Ajatshatru Singh said the people of the constituency and in general and the state in particular had bitter experience of the six years of the previous government led by Congress and PDP and moreover, people have now learnt that the BJP is just exploiting the people in the name of religion and region for its mean profits. He said only National Conference is committed to equitable development, peace, progress and upliftment of the down trodden, and well being of the people of the state and the priority sector of the NC is to address the issue of rising unemployment in the state. He informed that till the youth does not get employment, the party has decided to give stipend to youth after coming to power. He said that even the less educated youth would get jobs in police and army after the National Conference comes to power.
On the occasion, Smt. Shanti Devi, Smt. Garo Devi , Smt. Anita Devi, Smt. Sudesh, Shiv Ram Wazir, Babbu Slathia, Mangal Singh Manhas, Kuldeep Singh along with a large number of other persons from Congress and BJP joined National Conference and pledged to strengthen the hands of M. K. Ajatshatru Singh.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were - Ex - MLC Haji Mohd. Hussain, Ch. Rehmat Ali (Distt. Secretary NC Jammu Rural), Pt. Rameshwar Dutt ( Block President, Dansal), Janak Singh, Haji Wali Mohd., Angrej Singh (Block Secretary), Sarpanchs - Ch. Anwar Khan, Sain Khan, Liyaqat Ali, Ex - Capt. Buti Ram, Mohd. Sadiq, Govind Ram Sharma, Retd. Headmaster Ranjit Singh, Darshan (Panch) and Sham Lal (Block President, Bhalwal) and others.
