| Chander Mohan eyeing LS ticket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 10: Chander Mohan Sharma, who rejoined the BJP yesterday, is likely to be given the party mandate for contesting the Lok Sabha election from Jammu-Poonch constituency next year. Party sources said that since Sharma joined the BJP after the names of candidates for the three Assembly constituencies in Jammu city had been announced it was not possible for the organization to accommodate Chander Mohan in the ensuing Assembly election. These sources said that BJP mandate to Chander Mohan for contesting the Lok Sabha election will depend on the poll results from Gandhi Nagar constituency from where Dr Nirmal Singh had been fielded. If Nirmal Singh lost the Assembly seat, he may stake claim for contesting the Lok Sabha election from Jammu-Poonch constituency from where he had contested in the previous election. But the party leadership may not field a candidate defeated in the Assembly election for the Lok Sabha poll. Though Chander Mohan had not sought any concession from the BJP leadership as a precondition for his re-entry in the party he has been assured that he would be adjusted. In case the BJP wins more than 10 seats in the ensuing election Chander Mohan could be helped in getting elected to the Legislative Council. Chander Mohan has started campaigning for the BJP candidates in the three constituencies in the Jammu city. |
