| Chaman claims BJP to form Govt!! | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 10: Saying that in the past their party had been contesting elections to play the role of an opposition, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, expressed his optimism that this time a determined bid is being made to form a government having a national vision. To achieve this end, it is a must that the visionless Congress must be defeated for its communal mindset, he said and held it responsible for many ills causing problems not only to the people of this state but also the entire country. Addressing meetings of the party workers and others in Janipur and other localities of Jammu West Assembly constituency, Prof. Gupta observed that the Congress and its allies always played foul and succumbed to the pressures of communalists and certain foreign powers. At these meetings the activists of different localities raised the problems of their areas especially that of electricity, drinking water, awful condition of the roads and other issues. Prof. Gupta said that this exposes the Congress claims of development, progress and prosperity. He said that it was height of communal considerations and regional bias that in Jammu areas including Jammu West, many Assembly Constituencies have been carved out with the voter strength of much higher number than those of Kashmir valley. Jammu West Assembly Constituency is having the voters’ strength of over 1.50 lakhs whereas in the Valley most of the constituencies are having just 70,000 to 75000 electorates. To continue this discrimination, the Congress led coalition failed to keep up the promise of having fresh Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies as the National Conference under a design had amended the State Constitution by putting an embargo that there would be no delimitation of constituencies till 2026. Prof. Gupta emphasized that all such misdeeds of the Congress, National Conference and other Kashmir-centric parties should be exposed. He also appealed the electorate to ensure that nationalist voters are not divided as the tricks are being played by certain government agencies. Other who addressed the meetings included Surinder Sharma, Murari Lal, Corporators Ravinder, N.D. Rajwal, Sat Sharma (C.A.), Omi Khajuria, Roop Lal Sahni, Rakesh and Sunil Gupta.. |
