Addressing series of public meetings at Choudhary Nadh, Saaj, Keeri, Peer Baideshar and Bashali areas of Rajouri assembly constituency in support party candidate Master Tassadiq Hussain, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti told the gathering that her party, in its manifesto, has promised to set up regional councils in Poonch, Rajouri and remotest areas of Udhampur district on the pattern of Leh and Kargil Hill Development Councils. "During his three year tenure as Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has implemented comprehensive and result oriented programmes for the up-liftment of these areas but lot more needed to be done to remove backwardness from these belts", she said and added that decision of her party to set regional councils was taken in this directions. Calling upon the people to caste their votes in favour of party candidate Master Tassadiq Hussain, Mufti said that her party has fielded a candidate of high repute. She cautioned the people against vested interests who have been trying to divide people in the name of ethnicity and castes. The coming elections are not just for electing some individuals, she said and adding ‘ this whole democratic process is to elect a leader who will lead the State in the next six years’, she said and asked the people to compare performance of three year rule of PDP with other parties while casting their votes. |
