| Protests in Udhampur against denial of ticket to Khajuria | | CONGRESS CRISES | | SARITA JAMWAL UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: A large number of Chowkidaras and Numberdaras of Udhampur tehsil today came on roads in support of Ashwani Khajuria, who had been denied ticket for Udhampur assembly segment as promised earlier. Chowkidaras and Numberdaras headed by state president took out rally which passed through Dhar road and later culminated at Congress candidate’s office. They were demanding revision of party decision in which Brij Mohan has been given mandate from Udhampur assembly segment instead of Ashwani Khajuria, who was promised for it earlier by senior party leaders. Speaking on the occasion they highlighted the achievements of Azad led state government and also appreciated local Congress leader Ashwani Khajuria for helping them in getting their three major demands conceded by the collation government Expressing their gratitude to former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress led state government, they said it was Azad who made hike in the pay of Chowkidaras from just rupees eight to 500 per month. Showing solidarity with Ashwani Khajuria they appealed the Congress high command to review its decision and give mandate to Khajuria. Responding their sentiments, Khajuria said that he will decide whether to support the Congress candidate or fight as an independent candidate within next few days. |
