EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 10: The women wing of J&K Trade Union Congress (TUC) has rued of non allotment of tickets by the Congress party to 33% women for assembly elections in the J&K state. As per press release, meeting of the Women Wing of the Union held here today, attended by Vimla Salathia, President, Veena Bakshi Gen. Secy, Geeta Kumari, Updesh Khajuria, Raj Kumari and Sunita Sharma lodged a strong protest against discrimination towards women leaders and workers of the party in selecting party candidate for J&K state assembly elections. Speaking in the meeting Bakshi regretted that the party which is headed by a women, Sonia Gandhi, who is the strongest protagonist of empowerment of women, should discriminate against the fair sex in respect of allotting party tickets to them. No women candidate finds place in the list of candidates announce by the party so far, she added and appealed to the party president, Gandhi to give due representation to women by fielding them in the elections, she said. |
