| Manjit convenes meeting of CA&PD officers | | | JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 13 - In order to keep the prices of essential commodities under control, the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution and School Education S. Manjit Singh has stressed for frequent market checking. The Minister was addressing a meeting of CA&PD officers at Guest House here yesterday evening. Mr. Singh stressed upon officers to personally check the receipts of various ration cards and sale registers and asked the shopkeepers to ensure that the serial numbers and seals are affixed on ration coupons. Mr. Manjit Singh asked the officers and concerned Assistant Directors of the department to initiate action against kerosene depot holders and submit supply and sale report of kerosene oil of last four years. He warned the officials of the department and kerosene oil dealers that irregularities and dereliction of duty would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found guilty. The Minister also enquired the position of wheat, rice and sugar in rural and urban areas of the three zones of the Jammu division. He stressed the concerned Assistant Directors to personally check the wheat at FCI and in the mills where girding is done. He called upon the market checking squad to keep close vigil on rates fixed for each essential commodity by the government. He also directed the officials to maintain system and supply quality in the department. Mr. Singh directed the officers and officials of CA&PD department of Jammu province to provide ration to BPL families and constitute a committee at village level, which would check the supply to BPL families. Among others, Director CA&PD Mr. Vinod Koul and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. |
