| People asked to avail legal services | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov10: To educate the weaker sections of the society about services of State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), the Principal District and Session Judge, J. R. Kotwal who is also the chairman of District Legal Services Authority conducted national literacy awareness camp at Surinsar, about 24 kilometer away from here today. Additional District Judge, Jammu, Mohammad Akram Choudhary, Additional Mobile Traffic Magistrate, Nausad Ahmed Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu, Rajinder Singh and other senior staff members of revenue and judiciary were present on the occas Interacting with the villagers, the Principal District and Session Judge said that the purpose of the camp was to educate the weaker sections of the society about their rights as well as to encourage the settlement of disputes through Lok Adalats or through negotiation, arbitration and conciliation. Kotwal also apprised the gathering that free legal services can be provided to beneficiaries in the form of payment of court fee, process fee, expenses of witnesses, preparation of the paper book, lawyers fee and all other charges payable or incurred in connection with any legal proceedings, through representations by a legal practitioner in legal proceedings, by supplying certified copies of judgments, orders notes or evidence and other documents in legal proceedings, by drafting, printing, copying of legal documents, by giving legal advice on any legal matter and through mediation centres or family counseling centres. He stressed the need of making aware the underprivileged class of society about the benefits of not only Legal Services Law but also about all the social welfare legislations like Human Rights, the fundamental rights and the provisions of the Right to Information Act etc. The downtrodden and the backward class of the society are to be told how the settlement of disputes in the Lok Adalat saves their time, money and energy and how it not only maintains but improves the relations of rival parties. |
