| HC directs SHO Ramkote to trace out labourers of brick kiln | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov10: Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing in a habeas corpus petition, seeking production of 17 persons, who are stated to have been illegally detained by the owners of SMK Brick Kiln at village Thada Kalwaal, of Ramkot, directed SHO Ramkote to search the premises of SMK Brick Kiln and in case the persons mentioned in the petition or some other persons are found in illegal custody at the brick-kiln, he shall forthwith release those persons and submit the compliance report of this order by the next date of hearing. According to the petitioner, the owners of the brick-kiln had neither paid wages to these persons nor were allowing them to leave the premises. It is stated that the brick-kiln owners have been treating the men/women and children detained by them as bonded labourers. Justice Singh, after hearing Adv ZA Mughal appearing for the petitioner, observed that the Court is satisfied prima-facie that persons are being illegally detained in the premises of brick-kiln and it is considered just and proper to retrieve them from the illegal detention for setting them at liberty and directed SHO to search the brick-kiln.
