| Indu Bagal wins first slot in debating competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 10: Indu Bagal from the Government Women College, Gandhinagar, Jammu, was adjudged as first in the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Debating Competition organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu on the request of National Council For Cooperative Training (National Cooperative Union of India), New Delhi. Garvita Khajuria from the MBS College of Engineering and Technology was adjudged second and Dimple Sharma, of Department of Law was adjudged third. The cash prizes amounting to Rs 500, Rs. 400 and Rs.200 respectively were presented to the winners by Prof. Dhian S.Bhau, Dean Students Welfare. Jyoti Sharma, Government Women College, Udhampur and Spana Sharma of Department of Bio-Technology University of Jammu, were awarded two consolation prizes of Rs, 200 each respectively. Twenty two students from various P.G Departments of the University and affiliated Colleges expressed their views on the topic on ‘loan waiver scheme’ Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau, Dean Students, speaking on this occasion, said that better regulation and supervision needs to go hand in hand with strengthening the refinancing eligibility norms for rural banks used by NABARD and the due diligence underlying lending to rural finance. Beyond these measures, Government can also play an active role in many other areas to facilitate increased efficiency of rural finance markets and increased competition that would help financers make credit available more efficiently to rural borrowers, both large and small. Earlier Dr. Vishvraksha, Teacher Incharge, Debating Contest welcomed the guests and briefed about the rules and regulations of the contest. Sachin Bhagat conducted the proceedings whereas Kulbushan Thakur and Gurpal Singh acted as time keepers. It needs to be mentioned here that the First and Second prize winners shall be deputed for participation in the 3-day National Debating contest to be held at Institute of Cooperative Management, Chinna Udaippu, Tamil Nadu, from December 27, 2008. |
