| CPO for expediting survey of child labour | | | UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 13 -To rehabilitate the children in the age group of 0-14 years working in hazardous commercial establishments, the Government of India would provide them a school, Teacher, Clerk-cum Accountant, stipend of Rs.100 per student, books and nutrients besides vocational training to such children in the area where 50 children upto the age of 14 years are identified as child labour. This was revealed by the Chief Planning Officer, Udhampur, Mr. Z.A. Bandey while chairing a meeting of Zonal Education Officers and Block Development Officers held to review the progress achieved in this direction so far in the district, here today. The Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, District Education Planning Officer, BDOs, ZEOs and ZEPOs of the district attended the meeting. Mr. Bandey speaking on the occasion exhorted upon the officers to put in their sincere and tireless efforts in accomplishing this noble task assigned to them under National Child Labour Project in a stipulated time frame so that after conducting the survey of child labour, the project could be submitted to Government of India for approval. He said the Government of India under its Pilot Project scheme and selected only three districts namely Srinagar, Jammu and Udhampur during first phase. Responding to the problem of reluctance of employers in providing the relevant information posed by the BDOs and ZEOs, the Chief Planning Officer asked them to train their Teachers and Village Level Workers to motivate the employer first about the benefits of providing required information instantly aimed at for the welfare of such children and the employer would not have to face any penal action for this purpose. |
