Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Nov 28: Security forces on Sunday recovered detonators from a passenger vehicle here.
According to the details available with Early Times the alert troops of 11 RR and Kishtwar Police during a checking of a passenger vehicle in Banderkoot area found some detonators and other suspicious material from a passenger vehicle (No.JK17-6820) which was on its way from Kishtwar to Patimhala.
“Beside detonators, wire and some pins were among the recoveries from a bag following which all the 14 passengers including a few women were detained for questioning. All the passengers refused to claim ownership of the bag. However, after questioning the women and children were allowed to go home late in the evening following the intervention of local PRIs and a DDC member,” said a source.
Among the detained passengers- two hail from Kashmir.
The driver of the vehicle Mohammad Shafi who is a retired army personnel told Early Times that he was unaware about the bag and added that he had parked his vehicle at Bus Stand Kishtwar. “At the time of the departure I found the bags lying inside the vehicle and accordingly I put all of these on the rooftop of the vehicle,” he added. “I have nothing to check who carries what in his luggage. Let police check the CCTV footage to find out the truth” Shafi said.
The senior officials in Kishtwar refused to share any details about the recoveries. “It is premature to comment anything or to speak anything about the investigation,” they said. The officials said that efforts are on to identify the culprits. “CCTV footage of the cameras is being scrutinized,” they added.
It is pertinent to mention that Patimhala in Palmar area is home to under construction 1000 MW Pakal-Dul Power Project which is at an advanced stage of construction and as per various inputs - militants are planning to target major places including power projects and airports in Jammu and Kashmir.
