J&K UT turns into hub of protests
11/29/2021 11:07:27 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 29: After transition of J&K State into a Union Territory, Jammu and Srinagar have become hubs of protest.
During the past few months, people from different sections of the society, including doctors, J&K Bank security guards, deaf and dumb, people, specially abled persons, job aspirants, traders and others have staged protests for one or other reason.
An observer while talking to Early Times said, “When J&K’s special status was revoked and it was turned into a Union Territory the government had made tall promises about ending the discrimination with every section of the society. Youth were promised jobs and were told that J&K would become an industrial hub instead it has turned into a protest hub.” He said, “Downgrading State into a Union Territory has led to Jammu and Kashmir losing its sheen. There is no one left who can listen to people. Bureaucrats remain inaccessible and seem least bothered about what masses are facing.”
Another analyst said that the Centre should take note of the happenings in Jammu and Kashmir and pull up the officials responsible for not paying heed towards the genuine grievances of the people.
