| Inter-college chess tourney gets underway | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 11: Annual inter-college chess competitions, organized by Department of Physical Education, started today at Gymnasium Hall of University of Jammu, here today.
Competitions in today’s first round were officiated by S P Sharma, Sushil Kumar, Ajit Kumar and P D Singh.
The detailed results: Women’s section: Commerce College bt GGM Science College 3-1; GCW Gandhi Nagar bt ASCOMS 4-0; GCW Parade bt Government Degree College Akhnoor 3-1; Degree College Kathua bt GGM Science College 3-1. Men’s section: GGM Science College bt PG Departments 3-2; Degree College Udhampur bt ASCOMS 3-2; Dogra Law College bt Degree College Kathua 3-2; MAM College bt SRS College 3-2; MAM College (Evening) bt Degree College Rajouri 2-1; Degree College Poonch bt Degree College Akhnoor 3-2; Commerce College got walkover GCET Jammu; JIAR Jammu got walkover Degree College Doda.
Meanwhile, according to the Assistant Director Physical Education, Dr Sonam Angchuk, the selection trials-cum-screening of University cricket team (men) shall take place from November 13 from 2 pm onwards at University cricket ground. |
