| SP releases list of candidates | | Rehman rejects self rule proposal | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 11: State President Samajwadi Party Sheikh Abdul Rehman on Tuesday accused Congress party of misusing official machinery in violation of model code of conduct and demanded action against the offenders. Addressing a press conference here today, the state Samajwadi Party Chief announced that party will field 51 candidates and also expressed hope that his party would play a vital role in government formation. "If our candidates will get support of the people we will play a constructive role else we are ready to sit in the opposition to strengthen democratic institutions", Rehman. Raising the issue of misuse of official machinery Rehman said police vehicles have been placed at the disposal of local Congress workers in Doda and Kishtwar districts to carry out campaigning. He said these leaders are non entities yet the state administration is extending a helping hand to them under duress. ‘We oppose such practices and I am going to lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission to verify the facts. Rehman also targeted PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed for raising bogey of self rule and misleading common masses of the state with hollow slogans. "Mufti is begging for votes and has been exposed in the state politics". Rehman said. The common voter in the state is aware that almost all the political parties and Kashmir leaders have been making fools out of them and are ready to teach them a bitter lesson, he added warning mainstream political parties to get ready to face ire of common voter in Kashmir valley. Rehman said Samjawadi party is finalizing its election manifesto and central leadership of the party including SP President Mulayam Singh Yadan and party general secretary Amar Singh will lead the campaign in the month of December to add weight to the SP's election campaign. Rehman also announced that SP is extending unconditional support to like minded independents contesting from Rajouri, Kishtwar and Jammu districts. |
