| Workshop on “increase your safety quotient” at JU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 11: The Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu organized a workshop “Increase Your Safety Quotient” for woman scholars of the University today. Dr. Usha Pathania – licensed trainer, Springboard Consultancy, UK and former Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, Shimla University was the Core Resource Person on the occasion. The basic premise behind the workshop was to improve the safety quotient of women across all age groups. As per a release, the workshop began with the welcome address and the introduction of the workshop by Dr. Poonam Dhawan-Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu. She said that essentially, the idea of organizing such a workshop is to empower women with the knowledge to lead a safar life. She averred that ultimately, the confidence and the knowledge, the participants get out of this workshop, serve as an invaluable tool in modern living. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Usha Pathania said that though in the present century, a woman is perceived independent and strong, the continues to live under the blanket of fear. She explains that the workshop is an appeal to all women to recognize their strength and take the responsibility of their own safety. During the workshop, Dr. Usha Pathania helped women understand what to do when confronted with a difficult personal safety challenge. To be a part of the workshop was a truly empowering experience for all the women students. The programme was coordinate by Dr. Priyanka Katoch – Lecturer, Centre for Women’s Studies and vote of thanks was presented by Vibhuti Ubbott- Research Officer, Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu, the release added. |
