| PDP's wine in NC bottle! | | Omar promises one job to each household | | HAMAAD SALIF POONCH, Nov 11: National Conference president Omar Abdullah today kicked off his election campaign with a promise which Peoples Democratic Party made six years back and later not only forgot. Besides the idealistic roadmap to resolution of Kashmir issue and the healing touch policy, the Peoples Democratic Party in its 2002 manifesto had promised one job each to every family in the state. However, facing realties after formation of government the party had retracted saying that its intention was to give priority to those families which don’t have anyone in government jobs. Launching election campaign from this district today Omar said his party has a dream of transforming the destiny of the state and its people and promised employment to one person of each household, if voted to power. Addressing public meetings in Mandi and Jhulas, Omar said National Conference has come out with its agenda for governance which is a roadmap for the economic resurgence of the state and will usher an era of unprecedented development in the state and open new avenues of employment. Omar said 'Khushal Kashmir' cannot be created by hollow slogans it requires a vision, a concrete plan and the will to execute that plan. He said National Conference is the only party in the state which has the vision backed by strong ideology to conceive a futuristic progressive plan for the development of the state and has the talent to execute such a plan. ‘Given a chance, a stable strong National Conference government, will take the state to new heights of development’, Omar added. Omar said his party unlike the PDP and Congress does not believe in hollow slogans and false promises and as such he and his colleagues will never make promises that the party cannot live up to. However, he said National Conference, if voted to power, shall open new avenues for the young unemployed and ensure that in each household of the state there is at least one earning hand who can sustain the family and shoulder its responsibilities. He also promised to fill up all the 40,000 posts lying vacant in various government departments through a fast track recruitment drive. Omar said the PDP- Congress coalition in its six years of rule played divisive politics and tried to create fissures among the people of the state for petty political gains which could have had dangerous connotations for the integrity and unity of the state. Omar said National Conference has always been a prey to conspiracies but has never indulged in politics of deceit because the party's founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah always said and believed that ‘it is better to be deceived than to deceive anybody’. The son of veteran Congress leader Mir Poonchi, Nayeem Aijaz Mir and Ravinder Kumar Bitta District President Youth Congress, also joined National Conference here today in presence of Omar Abdullah. |
