| JKNTUF stages protest dharna | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 12: Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) held a day long protest dharna here today to focus the attention of the State Government on burning demands of the government employees and workers. The protestors were demanding enhancement of wages of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers from Rs 1300 to 3500 and from Rs 600 to Rs 2500 respectively and fixation of 100% by promotion quota as Supervisor, clerks and other posts vacant in Social Welfare Department for qualified Anganwadi Workers, uniform wages policy, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 yrs, immediate regularization of services of daily wagers, amendment in SRO 64, implementation of 6th pay commission report in toto and others. While addressing the protestors, Mohammed Gafoor Dar state president JKNTUF condemned the delaying policies of the previous and present Government which have miserably failed to settle the genuine demands of the working class of the State, thus forcing the four lakh State Government employees and workers to adopt the agitational path. He informed that on Novermber10, a high level meeting of Joint Consultative Forum was held with Governor for implementation of the 6th pay commission and other demands but positive results are still awaited. However, the employees of the State are ready for a bigger action if the demands are further delayed, he warned. Other leaders who addressed the protestors were Tara Chand, Sehdev Singh, Mohd Latif Qureshi, Babu Hussain Malik, Arun Moza, Updesh Singh, Raj Singh, Molvi Manir Hussain, Krishan Singh Bahu and Sardar Popinder Singh. |
